Study abroad

We are very appreciate for your advise/ experience on studying overseas in a foreign university as our daughter showing very interesting of going to Sao Paulo, Brazil for a year during the junior year as Liberal Art student.
The good, the bad and the safety particularly in Brazil.

You might also want to post this question on the Study Abroad forum.

I love Brazil, but Sao Paulo is a place I would not like to see my daughter go to study. The crime rate is staggering, and everyone there needs to be hyper security aware. Businesspeople often have body guards. The poverty is extreme and the divide between the haves and the have nots is as well, causing the kind of crime we can’t imagine.

The only way I’d even consider it is if your daughter is super sophisticated about big city living, but still, Sao Paulo makes NYC look like the world’s safest place.

The good? Brazil is a stunningly beautiful country when you get to the beach resorts and the Amazon.

intparent: Thanks, I just did. Didn’t know where to find it before.

2college2college: Thanks for the warning and I will talk with my D about it.
