Study Abroad?

Something I really want to do is study abroad during college. However, from what I hear it can already be difficult to graduate within four years as an engineering major, and while I'm aiming for four years, five is likely going to be my limit due to financial considerations. Depending on which school I'll attend, I'll have enough AP credit for sophomore standing.

Has anyone hear studied abroad while majoring in engineering? If so, could you please tell me what you majored in, how long you were abroad, whether you took engineering courses abroad, and how many years you graduated in. Also, if you did a coop, how did your study abroad effect it? Are the two compatible?

Thank you for your time!

Summer / Winter session? For a class or two?
Yeah many people do. Some people even studied abroad for a semester. You just need to check whether the credits are transferable or not. If you get these information directly from your school, it often means that the school accepts most of the credits. However, you must double check!

Most people I know did not study engineering abroad. They take non-engineering courses there because they are easier to transfer. However, there are students who have been to Germany and received credits.

In recent years at Lafayette College (Easton, PA) over 30% of engineering sophomores study abroad for a full semester. Global opportunities range from semester programs to interim session courses (January, between semesters) to service projects to research opportunities.
