Study Abroad

I know that study abroad is really popular at Wake and I really want to study abroad! Can you study abroad more than once? Like say the house in venice and then somewhere in Africa or Spain? Is this easier if you are majoring in languages or if you have lots of AP credit?

Officially, I think you can study abroad more than once. I know of some people who are going to be gone all next year, but they're switching locations after Christmas. But, to my knowledge, they're not going as part of a Wake program. The houses are sort of tricky. Because they send professors over with you, the courses that are taught each semester are always different (well, two are constant and are taught by people who are native to the country, but two are always taught by the Wake professor and are taught in his/her discipline). So it's possible that you go to London and are taught two courses that are outside of your major and that you wouldn't have otherwise taken. The Wake programs that aren't at the houses (the houses are in London, Vienna, and Venice) are slightly more conducive to studying abroad for more than one semester because the courses all have to do with the country in which you're studying (either the language, the history, or the culture). I think that most of the people that I've heard of studying abroad for a full year are usually people who are majoring in a language and who are participating in programs in countries that speak that language.
