Anyone on this forum had experience with sending their child to study abroad in the London program? My daughter is there now! Want to send her a package USPS (as the most economical vs. FedEx or UPS) but I’m finding that I need to fill out custom forms etc? Nothing too valuable and although she doesn’t need anything right away I don’t want it held up in Customs for weeks!
I haven’t sent mail to a study abroad program, but I’ve sent packages overseas for decades- typically customs doesn’'t hold things up too long. But, ship sooner rather than later. I wouldn’t send anything within a month of her leaving Europe.
Thank-you Kempette! Do you fill out any forms for customs or write anything on the package that indicates it’s personal items, or a gift, etc?
Yes, when you go to the post office you’ll have to fill out a customs form- I usually try to get some ahead of time if I know I’ll be shipping overseas so I can fill them out at home. It just makes life a little bit easier when I’m not feeling rushed by the line. Good luck & hope your daughter loves London!
@spinart, I would love to hear more about your daughter’s study abroad experience. My son is a high school senior looking hard at Elon. I’m encouraging him to study abroad and would love to hear what your daughter thinks so far.
