Study Abroad

How are the study abroad opportunities at Buffalo?

Also, I’m very curious how the finances work for the study abroad semester. Our older daughter goes to a small private school with a partial scholarship. The study abroad program she’s looking at costs about what a semester at the private school costs and the scholarship still gets applied, so we pay about the same as a regular semester.

In the case of a SUNY, we’d be paying say $24K/year in-state, but if the study abroad cost the same, say $30K/semester, that it does at the private school, I’d be paying an extra $18K for the study abroad semester, which is a large number.

Is that how it works normally or are the study abroad programs priced based what we’d be paying the SUNY for a regular semester?

I did find more information on their site and pulled up some actual programs. It does look like a semester aboard would cost relatively close to what a regular semester costs, so that’s great.

When we were there on our tour, in both the general admissions presentation and the one in the major my d is considering, they went out of their way to say they highly encourage study abroad and that there are scholarships available for it. On our general campus tour, the tour guide said she had no interest in study abroad but that it is very popular.
