Study Abroad

I'm looking to pursue a M.A. in English next year. Will it be possible to spend a semester abroad in England? Furthermore, if I spent a semester or more at the institution in England, will I graduate with a M.A. from both Universities?

I believe there are still some programs that will do semesters abroad at the graduate level, but not many. And to receive degrees from both schools would usually require a special arrangement and a year or mroe at each location - the second school is not going to give you a degree just for spending a semester.

Why don’t you just do your MA in the Uk? They’re just one year long.

When you study abroad, you generally don’t get a degree from the overseas institution. You just get a degree from your own. They’re different from dual-degree programs.

I agree with ticklemepink – if you want a degree from a UK institution, you should do your MA in the UK. If you want to study abroad, you should very carefully look at schools that would allow you to do that and consider applying for funding to do so, like the Fulbright. Grad school is different and they likely won’t pay for it.
