My daughter is currently a junior at Davidson, but she is studying abroad this semester. For anyone who has studied abroad before, can you tell me how the transcript is shown? I know they are only given pass/fail credit for it, but is there a letter grade next to the class and it is just not figured into the GPA, or is it just listed as a P or F? Is it included in the Davidson transcript or listed as a separate transcript from the study abroad university? Thanks for the help.

My D did a summer program that was run by Davidson; it was P/F and not counted in her GPA but obviously a summer program, however academic, isn’t the same as a full multi-course study abroad semester anyway. There is a lot of information about the study abroad programs on the Davidson Web site; below is a link to one of the pages that leads to lots of other information, and if that doesn’t quite provide the information you are looking for I’m sure the question could also be answered very quickly by calling the Rusk program office.

Thank you for the link. I have checked the Davidson website and it doesn’t mention it specifically, but you’re right a call or email to the Study Abroad office would probably answer my question very quickly. I appreciate your help.

Just wondering - did you find an answer to your question? I’m actually doing some study at a different university this summer, and I’m interested in this too.

I didn’t really get an answer to the study abroad during the semester question, since I haven’t called, although I imagine it’s a separate transcript from the SA university. However, my daughter studied at Middlebury College the summer between Freshman and Sophomore years. I think they have a limit of classes from other colleges or universities that can be transferred. She will have a separate Middlebury transcript for the classes she took there (with the letter grade) and they will not be represented into her Davidson GPA. I hope this helps somewhat.
