Unfortunately, I didn't take the ACT last year...and I have a feeling I'd do better on the ACT. I have - starting today - July 17th - until October 9th (SAT) or September 11th (ACT) to study.

I'm wondering if I should study for both, or just one?

Which books are the best to buy for studying? I want to start studying as soon as possible.

I am going to be a senior next year so this is my last chance to raise my scores.

Currently, these are my SAT scores from 2 tests:

First Time
520 Reading
420 Math
590 Writing

Second Time
470 Reading
520 Math
620 Writing

So my best scores are: 520 reading, 520 math, 620 writing = 1660 total.

I’d suggest that you study for the ACT since your SAT scores are average.

Just found out the ACT also offers tests on October 23rd, so I have about equal time to study for both.

Which test is easier?

Yah I would take the ACT. It is more of a straightforward test without any tricks like the SAT. I would definitely use the Red Book (the official ACT book with previously used old tests) and Princeton Review. And you should take both the September and October ACT tests since you can choose which one to send to colleges and you will get more practice by taking the September one.

if i take the october test will the scores be back in time for november early action / decision?
