Study for SAT and ACT at same time????

I would like to know whether or not anyone has every studied for the SAT and ACT at the same time. I am taking the ACT on April 13, 2013 and I'm taking the SAT May 4, 2013. Is there any effectiv eplan to study for them both? I would love to know yall's opinion on what I should do. Thanks in advance.

I took mine very close together, but I still studied separately. The SAT was 2 weeks before the ACT (January 26, February 9), and I started ACT preparation the day after I took the SAT. The tests are similar enough that studying for one helps on the other, but it helped me to study specifically for each. All I did was take 8 of the SATs out of the blue book and then 6 ACTs out of the Princeton book.

I didn’t even look at the SAT before mid January. Two weeks is more than enough time to do extremely well on either test (2340/36 off of two weeks each for me). There’s absolutely reason for you to be studying this early. Wait until early April.

I would have to disagree with HateBeinSober.

While some students due well with minimal studying, some students start months in advance. Each situation is different and will depend on your academic level and test taking ability.

There is no easy solution to your question, but one thing is certain, the ACT and SAT do have some overlap, so while studying for one exam, you are effectively studying for both exams in some way.

I’m taking those same tests the same dates. Lol good luck to both of us. I’m preparing for the ACT and SAT right now. I dedicate my weekdays to ACT (I take a daily ACT prep class at school) and I use my weekends for SAT. We’ll see how this method works.

I’m curious to hear about your experience with your school ACT prep class, TinnyT.

It’s possible. I took my tests 2 weeks apart (Jan SAT and Feb ACT). The SAT’s critical reading and writing sections are pretty similar to the ACT English and Reading- I studied minimally for the ACT specifically but still got 36s in English and Reading. The math in both tests is pretty similar (although the ACT has trig).
You actually have a good amount of time- three weeks is enough time to get through 2 practice tests and a good prep book. I studied a few months in advance of the SAT, but I only did a few chapters here and there. I didn’t start really studying until the week before the test (I <3 procrastination), which probably was a bit too late. I still got a decent 2240 though, and I have a few more years until I graduate and need to worry about colleges.

It’s actually pretty useless. If we weren’t required to attend I’d probably never go.
