Study help?

High school sophomore. (incoming)

I've come to the realization that my GPA is ****,(3.0) and that the only way to raise it is to actually study and do my work and all that but I seriously have no idea how to keep myself concentrate on schoolwork? I always get distracted and in order to get into my dream college I need to raise my GPA by ALOT and also make at least like a 1900 on my SAT and a 30 on my ACT. Please anyone help me please:( I bought an agenda as well as an academic calendar to keep my work organized and to keep myself from forgetting or procrastinating but obviously that's just a baby step... Study wise I have found that people suggest "Quizlet" to help me memorize and practice things so if anyone on here has ever used that please let me know if it helped you? I'm in desperate need to fix my GPA and my attitude about school all around so please anyone guide me (0o0)/

Make a schedule by the hour of what you’re going to do everyday.

Tell your parents to keep your electronics hostage

Get your parents to lock you in your room without anything but your homework and books inside and not let you out till you’re done (no joke, it actually works)

Find a study partner or tutor from your school or even cc (I’m sure a lot of people will be willing to help.)

What’s distracting you? TV, internet, cellphone? Just unplug that stuff or take the batteries out.

For studying, if the teacher issues a textbook, I read the chapter the class is currently on, take notes on it, do whatever practice problems are in it, then periodically review my notes. This kinda forces me to retain the important information, and it’s definitely a lot easier if I make an effort to enjoy the material I’m covering. For grades… just study, do every assignment and the improvement should come naturally. You still have a TON of time to improve, though, and an upward trend will look a lot better than a downward spiral.

Thank you guys so much:)

The problem with locking down the internet is that some assignments are done by computer (using Microsoft Word). IMO I hate doing computer assignments because one second I’m diligently working, the next I’m on YouTube.

Yeah I can relate…

I remember awhile back someone mentioned a computer app on here that helps you block some websites for a certain period of time. I think it’s called Chrome Nanny. I used it for awhile and it was pretty good but I personally just got lazy.

Would that app work on an apple computer? And btw if anyone could tell me how to quote someone so they see that I responded to their response that’d be nice._. —very new to this forum thing

I’m not sure, I don’t have an apple computer. I have a PC and I used it on Google Chrome of course.

Lol,it’s okay. I’ve been here for almost a year and just learned how this summer.
