Study Program for an International

Hello everybody,

I am a french international student who planned to study in USA. To accomplish my dream, I must pass the SAT and two SAT Subject Test (Physics and Maths II).

The SAT is quite different that our evaluation system, here in Western Europe, so I have to adapt myself. The notions and the content of the Physics exam is also totally different to what I experienced since I am in high school... So what would you recommend for me :
I have the summer to work hard on my SATs, How should I learn ? Learn with a SAT books chapter by chapter and then do a lot of tests or tests a lot and then work on what I mess up with?

Are admission officer comprehensive with International who passed SATs and who do not have english as a native language?

Do you know good books to prepare the SAT? I bought Princeton's Review for Physics and Strategy and Barrow for Writing and Math II

First, I’m sure you have an LV2. Do yourself a favor and take the language Subject in that LV2 - you’re likely to get a high score and that can’t hurt to have more than the minimum (i fact many schools require or like to see 3). You can take 3 subject tests on the same day.

Second, the Physics exam is likely to cover 3e, 2e, and 1S. The format is different but the topics should have been covered, at least partially, already. You just need to learn how Americans word things, write numbers (ie. 1 1/2 means one and a half, not one half).

To study: use your prep books. Princeton Review has a clear layout and gives clear tips and does not assume you know anything about standardized tests so it’s probably one of the best for internationals.

Admission officers know it’s virtually impossible for an international to get a 600+ on the CR (it’s like having to do in 20mn what you have 1h30 to do for the bac L, and multiplied by 3 or 4). They do expect decent scores on the math and writing tests. The writing test is similar to the TOEFL so it shouldn’t be too much of a problem.
