Im a freshmen and still easing into college life. Any good study tips thats I should know? Any tips thats you maybe wish you knew when you are a freshmen just like me? Any advice that wasn't applicable in high school but is now? I am a commuter btw. Just trying to get as high a GPA as possible for this year so I can transfer to my favorite school.

•Read assigned chapter before lecture
•Type out the key points, definitions, relevant information from textbook into a document on laptop in my own words. I use the note-taking format on Pages (Mac) and it makes outlining easy. I have a document for each class and then label the chapters and important headings and subheadings within each document.
•Bring laptop to class and edit the documents with things the professor emphasizes.

I do all the assigned problems and extra problems and bring any questions I have or just my work for checking to office hours or recitation.

I like to listen to various types of electronic music when I study. I also like to have some kind of food or drink to have while studying. Little things like this are effective for me; find what’s effective for you.

This is coming from someone who almost never studied in HS.

Sometimes it can be good to bring a laptop, but I prefer to take notes in class pen and paper! It keeps me from getting distracted. It’s all about how you learn. Also, quizlet is a great studying resource. I like being able to make flashcards electronically and study them in a variety of ways. Flashcards aren’t good for all classes, but if you’re in anything vocabulary-based I’d recommend it! Good luck!
