Study Tips

I think that it would be a really helpful idea if everyone posted their best study tips. Of course, there isn't a single method that will work perfectly for every type of student... but the more ideas, the better. So, come on!

I read the material like five minutes before the test.

Don't procrastinate. Review your notes every day. Study a bit each day, not just the day before the test. If you're memorizing facts, maybe come up with acronyms or word pictures to help you remember.

Cramming right before always works a little better if you've already read the stuff once...

Usually I just pay attention in class, and don't study at home. Then, the morning of the test, I cram insanely, and my final average for this year was 98.16 ( highest in my grade.) However, procrastination really isn't cool. It's worked so far, but I'd like to quit.

flash cards! (for some things)

take them everwhere you go to study easily

CrazedAmbition: Procrastination is awesome. Don't be hatin'. :D

also, eat nutrituous meals (esp breakfast) and try to sleep at least 7 hours.

good luck! :)

I just always feel so unprepared when my classmates have their home-written notes and studyguides with them. I hate to hear them repeat useless facts that really onyl show that they stayed up memorizing answers to random questions.... and I hate that everyone gets upset when I get a higher grade, because I didn't " study." Studying is more than memorizing, it is more important to learn and understand!

^^Exactly. If people would just actually LISTEN to the teacher and not write down what they say verbatim, they might actually understand the material covered.

I'm also taking my first AP class this year. Of course, the pre-requisite was writing a paper long enough to be published as one of three comprehensive essays in a scholarly-type book.

^^What the hell?

Torture...... evil assignment.... I started trying to sound passionate, and immersing myself in the topic. Of course, 15 pages later, I think my paper has lost its spirit. It's almost dead. The conclusion is actually a dramatic realization, written in pretty language that makes it sound like I am a writer in love with the sound of my own voice.

^^LMAO. What AP class was this for? It would have been even more cruel and unusual if it had been an AP science course...shivers

AP European History ( 10 char.... errrrr)

Geez, you must have a horrible teacher...

Why the hell did he/she make you do that to get into that class?

Other students say she is the best teacher they have ever had in their life. She just doesn't like students getting " lazy" over the summer.

The teacher said it's because we are AP students..... we have to know how to take a thesis, prove it, expand on it, give it a view, etc. And, if you can't handle the paper, you should ask to be moved out of the class. ( We are sophomores, students with the highest average are placed into the class)

Jesus Christ, that's crazy.
My school only offers four APs (I can only take two because they are all scheduled together...).
APUSH and AP World History are offered alternate years and are a serious joke at my school.
AP Calculus AB is a really good class (the teacher always has students score 4-5).
AP English Comp & Lit is hard as hell (the teacher is a psycho) but it's a really good class.

NONE of those classes requires summer papers...Though we did have to read three novels for English...
