Study Visa to Canada - requirements

Is anyone here familiar with applying for a study visa for Canada from the USA?

Do we need to open a Canadian bank account for her before we apply for the visa and are we really required to deposit $10,000 for a single student, in addition to the tuition? I am not sure I am reading the requirements posted on their website correctly. Instead, is it sufficient to show the proof of scholarship funds from the school, our bank statements that show salary to provide for funds amounting to the additional $10,000 (as their website says for a single student) and the ability to pay, all with just our documents at the time of application?

Thanks to anyone who will respond who understands this!

You do not need to open a Canadian account with all the funds in it. You just need to show proof that you can pay the tuition room and board bill. Documentation of financial scholarship, loans, pay stub, bank statements, etc. If you have other questions, you can post on the McGill forum. You might get more help there.

If you read #3, the requirement is that you “prove that you have sufficient funds to support yourself” through some of the methods listed.

We went through the process and provided bank statements and pay stubs, and this was sufficient.
