so my school offers study abroad programs in hong kong at either hkust or hku! i'm majoring in econ, and i heard both schools are strong in that field! i'm torn between which univ. to choose since they're both prestigious. can anyone tell me the pros & cons of each school? or which school you would choose? thanks:)

From what I know, HKUST has the best finance/business program in China. However, HKU is still prestigious.

If you want to have more fun, HKU is better choice (people there are more fun and the location is better). But if you are more concerned about academics and attending a more prestigious school for finance/business, you should choose UST.

Just to let you know, abroad programs for HKU will fill up very fast.

I studied abroad at HKUST last semester. HKUST’s business program pretty good. Let me know if you have any questions about HKUST or studying in HK.

Hey vivace13!
I will be going to HKUST for Undergrad Mechanical Engineering program this September 2010, and have received the full tuition scholarship…
I would love to know more about the University lie at HKUST, any advices that you may have for me, and how the dorms etc are ?!?

Hi!

I’m also very curious about the pros and cons of each university. I am in the exact same position and am torn between both HKU and HKUST. I will be studying business there. Can any local people tell us the reputations of the schools- their environments, student life, academics, or general perception? I really want to have the best experience in Hong Kong! Or, if you’ve studied at HKU or HKUST, can you please talk a little about your experience there? I’m also interested in which dorms would be the best to choose in each university. Thank you soo much!

Hey,

Ill be studying abroad to HKUST very soon (22nd Jan 2011, to be exact). In terms of OVERALL reputation i think HKU has a better ranking globally. But subject wise, in terms of business, HKUST would take the crown because its MBA program is actually top 10 in the world. So for business, HKUST is better.
Ive got a friend who has just come back from HKUST exchange, and she has done a blog about it, feel free to visit that blog and ask her any questions, cos she helped me a lot as well.
