So I've been saving up money for a few years now, and I finally have enough to go to China for a year. :) I just have one huge problem; I can't go until I'm in my senior year. I have the money to study abroad, but I still need to work for spending money. There's no other way for me. If I study abroad I'll have to do it in senior year.

So do you think it's worth it? I mean, I have no idea how I'm supposed to apply for colleges and scholarships if I'm abroad. I've only had A's and a B (I'm in 10th grade right now) so I'm not behind in school (I'm actually done with my science credits since I take so many xD).

What are my options?

By the way, I'm new so I apologize if I posted this is the wrong place; I've never been on this site before.

Hi,

I don’t know about China, but I work at a boarding school in Canada and we have a lot of international students. We have a department that takes care of helping students applying to universities around the world and they are very qualified in what they do.

So make sure the school you are going to have a department like this and they are competent in the American system. If not, you might get in trouble and might think of going somewhere else.

Best of luck,

I wouldn’t do it senior year. I would take a gap year after it to do it since you already have all the money saved up. there are exchange programs at both the high school and the college level, that shouldn’t cost that much to you out of pocket. Those on the high school level will help because they know they have students applying to college. It could be tricky. I would suggest just waiting for college to study abroad. In absolutely no way will you be at an advantage studying abroad in high school
