So I want to study abroad in China for a whole year but as a premed thats kind of difficult. Right now I am planning on finishing all my premed requirements during my freshman year, summer between freshman and sophomore year, and sophomore year. Would that be a very difficult course load? Also when would I take the MCAT? Could I take it after the end of sophomore year before I leave or can I possibly take it in China? I know the MCAT is administered in other countrie but is it administered in English or that country's language?

For some reason, I get an odd impression that pre-med advisors aren't so clear about pre-med pre-reqs and MCAT. There are no deadlines! You can do them whenever you like, complete them whenever, then apply to medical school. What's the point of cramming all the pre-reqs into freshman year to make for a harder load and more difficulty in maintaining a high gpa? Take it slowly, and when you think it's time to take the MCAT, take it. You can take it Junior year, when most pre-meds decide to take it, in which case, just take your time. MCAT is computerized now so there are multiple testing dates throughout the year. Don't cram your courseload. Study abroad and feel good about your undergraduate education, since this is your last chance. You'll have plenty of time in med school to work hard, why make your life difficult and make it a 4 year undergrad of harsh studies, then 4 year medical school harsh studies, then those painful residencies? Relax, it might be your last time being able to do so.

RIght now here's my plan to fufill my premed requirements. I already have two semesters of physics and calculus because of AP credit.

Freshmen year: General chemistry, composition, calculus 3, and 1 semester biology

Sophomore year: biology, organic chemistry, and 1 semester physics

Junior year: 1 semester of enlish while studying abroad and fufilling the course distrubitions required at my school

Senior year: finishing up my major and more course distributritions

keep in mind that the vast majority of schools will not accept AP credit, so you will either have to retake physics/calc or take additional upper level classes with labs (that means two semesters of physics needs to be worked in, as well as another semester of calc or stat, though the additional math course is less important as most schools will let you by with just one semester of calc).

I had the same dilemma. I want to study in France for a semester or two. Finished my 2 semester requirements of physics, english, calc, general bio, and general chemistry so far (within 2 semesters along with other courses). I want to take and probably going to take most of them for one years of Biochem, Organic Chem, Human Anatomy & Physiology (supposedly really hard), Cell Structure and Function (one semester), Genetics and Molecular Biology (one semester). Didnt know how to fit all of this along with MCAT and Interviews during Senior year.
