Studying Abroad Help?

I’m a freshman in high school currently, and a few months ago I received a $9,135 scholarship to study abroad for six weeks in Japan. I earned this from a program called YFUUSA, and the scholarship is funded by the Japanese government. I saw on one page some colleges that encourage YFU participants to apply, and I think about 18 out of the top 20 schools in the United States were on that list.

How much do you think an opportunity like this will help towards college applications (especially when I’m applying to the top 20 colleges in the US)? Will it really help distinguish me because it’s a scholarship, or no?

Thank you.
