Okay so there is no question that I want to study abroad this coming fall 2013. If I cant do that then in the spring of 2014. My school Temple University only offers London for the fall and spring semesters and every other study abroad place tat they have offered for my major can only be attended in the summer. I really do not want study abroad in London but want to study somewhere with a tropical climate. Places like Costa Rica and Brazil would be ideal. I dont know what to do, I also am limited on budget and do not wanna spend that much. Any suggestions???

bump?! please and thanks

Bumping after 12 minutes on a forum that is not hugely active anyway is a little rude… Have you talked to your study abroad office? Some colleges will allow you to study abroad through programs that are not their own. You have to see what Temple allows. Otherwise, can you study abroad in a program for a different major and still get usable credits & graduate on time?

I assume you are saying that you can’t afford to pay extra for a summer abroad, along with not working that summer (and thus not earning anything). No good suggestions except to ask your study abroad office if they are aware of any scholarship or financial aid available for summer study abroad. But honestly, I have often thought that summer study abroad is meant for wealthier kids who (1) can afford to pay the extra beyond what they are already paying for their education, and (2) don’t need to work in the summer.

yes sorry for the quick bump, just a little anxious. But yes I work in the summer, which is why I cannot study abroad in the summer. Im also gonna try and find scholarships for studying away in the fall to lessen the price. But yeah thank you so much for the help, Ill try and figure out if Temple will allow me to study away with another college or look into studying away on a different major. But I think I am pretty limited on what classes I have to take. Does anynone know of any great tropical climate places to study away at ? With cheap price of living? Costa Rica seems like the best place to me…

Also what places have a tropical climate and the main language spoken is english?
I am a communications major, does anyone know any good places to study abroad in that field with tropical weather and english is the main language?

Sorry for all the questions but I am trying to find the perfect place to study away? Thank you :)

Florida?

And it doesn’t seem like you’ve done much research about this at all? Have you even spoken to your school’s study abroad office about it?

I don’t think that you should study abroad just because you want to go somewhere with a tropical climate. If that’s the case, save your tuition money and go on a vacation. The whole point of study abroad is to experience new culture and languages while obtaining credit towards your education. My college’s study abroad office was very helpful. They offer affiliate programs as well as exchange programs where you can use financial aid to travel abroad. If you really want to go somewhere “tropical” then just forget about trying to earn credits for your major and go where you wanna go.

Northern Australia - Cairns and Darwin both have universities. Brisbane also does, though it’s not quite in the tropical region.

Don’t forget that a tropical climate comes with both a wet and dry season, so you will need to time any trip to coincide with the dry season. I doubt that the monsoon is what you’re envisaging when you say tropical climate!

What’s your major?

I was near Temple campus recently, from the UK. It’s not a big weather difference from London during the fall. If you want great weather + universities + language, also try South Africa if possible.
