Studying abroad with Bad Freshman GPA

Due to no one’s fault but my own, I bombed Freshman year and ended with a 2.4 gpa. I now realize my mistakes. Though I know with hard work I can get my gpa up to a 3.0 by the end of sophomore year, can I still study abroad Junior year with a program with a 3.0 requirement? I took 31 credits my first year, but plan on taking 34 this year…
I’m asking this because I know you have to start applying a semester beforehand, but its not possible to raise a 2.4 to a 3.0 in one semester. I’m considering retaking one of the courses I failed in next semester
I would however be able to get the gpa up before actually going abroad…
But I do want to go abroad fall semester of my junior year… I’m really disappointed in myself for bombing this bad… Its hard for me since I never failed like this, but it was a combination of mental illness(now medicated)and loss of direction…
I’m really stressed out that I could have ruined my University life due to a bad Freshman year…
I’m not afraid of hard work, I just want to know if this is possible…

You should reach out to the study abroad coordinator at your school because different institutions may handle this differently.

Yeah, I plan on consulting my academic advisor and study abroad advisor, but wanted to see if anyone went through something similar, but thanks
