Is it affordable? What year can you do it? and does anyone have any experience they'd liek to share about it? I'd like to go to Europe, preferably UK, Italy, or Spain. Tanks

Study abroad is expensive and I don’t see how anyone can do it without loans. Basically, one quarter of study abroad costs as much as a year’s tuition (12,500). If you do do it, stay for a full year or half year since it’s not that much more.

You should do study abroad as early as possible because then you won’t have to worry about major requirement classes not being offered. However, some of the programs are major only, but they usually require to speak the language.

If you want to do study abroad and go cheap, then try getting into the program at a Community college. Mine school went for 16 weeks abroad (cause they were on semester schedule) and it costs about 7000 (may have gone up a bit in the past couple years, but still way cheap). This included the same as UCI’s package. Remember, most study abroads do not include tuition, textbooks, food, or expenses, such as going out and having fun. They do include housing, flight (usually), and a few meals. Also, you will need to buy your own passport–which it’s best to do a couple months before you leave in order to get it in time.
