Does anyone have experience with the Qasid Institute in Amman? They seem reputable and my daughter's school will accept their transfer credit for Intermediate Level Modern Standard Arabic.

There are a few mentions of Qasid in other threads, but nothing since about 2009.

My concern is also about safety in Amman for a single American female, and specifically if there happened to be any political or social instability over the summer.

Thanks!

Hi Fairfielder,

Get in touch with past participants - even though a school or university will likely give you references from students that are likely to give a good review, direct contact with past participants is pretty helpful.

Jordan has for quite some time been one of the most (if not the most) positive of destinations in the Arabic speaking world in terms of political stability.

I just spent 30 minutes looking for a great article that an American woman wrote about her experience in Jordan - but unfortunately I can’t locate it.

Google everything that crosses your mind with regard to your questions about safety for a female student, and contact the school. You are sure to find some helpful information between the two.

Thanks, this is very helpful, though of course one wonders how candid they would be, and I want to know specifics of what steps they would take in case of military action. Jordan’s location between Israel and Syria has me worried.

I am hoping that some parents might weigh in on their experiences with this particular program. It’s possible I should have posted this in Parents Forum.

I appreciate your reply. Best wishes!
