I was wondering if anyone had any comments or advice on going to a college or university that was a significant distance away from home (i.e. living in New York but going to college in San Diego). Besides airfare and missing your family, is there anything else to consider before making this transition? Any complications with medical, etc? Thanks!

Buy your winter break flight tickets now (cheaper).
Call now and ask for good seats on the plane (I prefer isle seats, and exit row)
Call your medical insurance and check if they cover you @ college (name the city and state)
On the way to the Airport arrange it with someone else who is going the same day and split the cab fare.
There is probably more...

Thanks! Should you buy stuff and bring it with you or buy it all where you're going? I'm planning on going from Boston, MA to Honolulu, HI/Phoenix, AZ/Denver, CO - I still have plenty of time to figure stuff out.

well each passenger can take only 2 bag that weigh no more than 50 pounds. so pack as much as u can, but dont bother shipping stuff because its more expensive to ship then to buy it there.
