How exactly do you go about this? I started and I'm finding myself with lots of grammar laws and vocabulary words and lots of verb conjugations.

*** is verb conjugation? 3 years of japanese, and we've never used this term. well, my japanese class is really informal; but we do learn a lot.

Mmm is your final multiple choice?

Because then I'd just skim vocab, and read over grammer laws/verb conjugations.

If not, I guess you need some hardcore studying - make flashcards for vocab, and just review until you get your grammer laws and verb conjugations down. It's just a matter of practice until you get it!

yeah, for my spanish final which was multiple choice I just studied vocab.

i take latin (and my final is mostly written, with a few mcs), so it might differ from whatever langauge you take...

I write out all the vocab words on index cards (preferably during the year, chapter by chatper) and then go through it...

then i write out all my charts, and use examples

Take hardest test of year (languages are cumulative so I just take the last one)

Finally, day before, go back over EVERY mistake on a test you've made!

How effective are flashcards for hundreds of vocab words?

What are you talking about? GRAMMAR isn;t important at all if you're in a higher level because you practically know everything by heart. It's VOCABULARY That's Important.

Maybe shes not at a higher level.

Or just doesnt have grammar down by heart.

Grammar is very important. If you go to a different country with really bad grammar, they are going to laugh at you, and that's not fun :D .

Verb conjugation is important as well. There are so many tenses and it's hard to remember everything. You do need to know common vocab though because you'll find yourself not understanding a sentence because of one word you don't know.

Studying? For a foreign language final?

Review the basic grammar that you may have forgotten, and brush up on your vocabulary.

You should know all your conjugations when you learn them, it's so easy...

I second what sous said.

I second Sous as well, grammer before vocabulary.

Masterus, if you're so smart why aren't you in college yet? Get a life. Anyways.

Sous thanks for your input... I am trying to review my grammar, etc., but I'm not sure about what would be a very effective way to do this.

I wish I could give you good advice...unfortunately, language is something that comes fairly naturally to me, so I've never had to study for German....sorry :(

However, I know there are a lot of online quizzes and review sites that you could check out. A lot of universities have self-grading grammar quizzes and such. Try googling "spanish review" (or whatever language you're in) and see what you can find.

Also, re: vocabulary. A lot of web sites have lists of vocabulary terms, for example, weather terms, in foreign languages. If you have some idea of what your final is going to include, you could check out some of them. Do you have a textbook? Review the vocabulary from the book.

What language are you in? If it's German, I could definitely help

I do have a life, which is why I barely study...only review a few minutes and I'm done. I can't go into college because I JUST started high school so I don't have the required CREDITS to graduate yet.

You just started high school?
Things will change.

Well apparently you don't have a life because you spend your free time after your few minutes of studying trying to prove to complete strangers how "smart" you are. Why do you care? Maybe because you have nothing else in your life worth doing.

I'm on here for few minutes a day unless there's a discussion, I'm usually talking with friends on AIM.

this thread wasn't titled "should I study," she was asking about studying tips.
