Hey, Everyone!
I’m currently in the middle of my sophmore year of college and plan on becoming a Doctor as a career. So, I started college in 2014 ( a year after graduating high school) at a community college. I’ve been taking my time to pass all my classes and basically why I’m still in community. I will be done next year and ready to transfer to a University. There is so much prep that goes into the MCAT and I would really love to know when and how I should study for the MCAT? Also, what are the best resources to use while studying?
Hello premedstudent20,
I’m also starting my second year at a community college as a premed student. Although I don’t have as much as experience as somebody else, I can give you some tips regarding your question. The first tip I can give you is to join the American Medical Student Association (AMSA). They provide discounts from Kaplan and benefits that will help you prepare for the MCAT. Another tip is to get the test prep book so you can get related to the topics covered. One more thing, I would recommend you to concentrate on your applications for now and later worry about the MCAT.
I hope to have been of help.
My sister is taking a gap year and took the MCAT in August. She did this to better prepare by using Khan Academy and Kaplan. She was able to get more research work and a 522 on the MCAT. While the decision for a gap year was controversial for my parents, I think it helped more than it hurt.
