Hi Guys.
I am from India and will be attending the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign for electrical engineering this fall.
Considering the present situation of H1-B , i know that it is very difficult to scure a job in the U.S.A after completing my Bachelors.(i hope the situation will improve by 2013-2014 though).
Hence i am considering Canada for work after my graduation.
Can you please tell me how easy is it to secure jobs in Canada after graduating from one of the best universitites for Electrical engineering in the states?
And how is the demand for international graduates with a U.S. degree in the engineering sector?

I am looking forward to your replies folks!!

However, I read an article that said that the US educates international students, refuses to hire them, and then Canada snaps up the best. Given the current economy, who knows? Give it your best shot!

Thanks for your reply!!! I will be a freshman this year and will complete my bachelors by 2013..After that grad school. So another 2 years.I think the economy will stabilize 6 years hence!!!

Did you read about the electric/solar cars that are springing up in India? We need all the innovation we can get. I also read a column in the NY Times positing that the congruence of economic collapse and environmental crisis will create a Great Disruption of business as usual all over the planet. ss_2310, you have the ability now to position yourself to be of assistance to yourself and the world. I hope you do, and I welcome you to Canada if you choose it!

Wow, thank you, pretty horrifying. I did not know the breadth of this problem.

The issues regarding professions like doctors and dentists are well known. (And for anyone reading this, even a Canadian citizen graduating from a top medical school in the US can have trouble finding a residency in Canada, and, no Canadian residency, no job here.)

ss_2310, I think the message here is, make sure you have a job before you immigrate.
