Studying medicine at Cambridge University

hello! I just signed up because I am sooo confused about UK A-Level system.
I searched up about UK A-level a lot, and if I am correct, I found out that it is like same level as US sophomore - junior college level…

I am currently attending community college and I really want to study medicine at Cambridge!!!
please give me some advices~

This is what I have took at cc:
For Math: Statistics, Calculus I and Calculus II
for physics: General Physics I and II
for biology: General Biology I and II
for chemistry: General Chem I and II

I’m trying to apply to Cambridge this year after taking
Math: Calculus III (multivariable calc)
physics: Calculus Based Physics I and II
Biology: Anatomy and physiology I and II, and Microbiology
Chemistry: Organic Chem I and II

Are these courses enough to make me a realistic candidate for Cambridge medicine?
Or do I have to take something more like Biochemistry…?

thank u:)

Hello! I came by your post and did some research about your situation. I am applying to US universities from the UK and currently do A-Levels. The first thing I would suggest you do is go to the University of Cambridge’s website and read up what they accept as equivalents. Here is a link to the medicine course: http://www.undergraduate.study.cam.ac.uk/courses/medicine . I also went to their international students’ page and found this webpage which I thought might be of use to you: http://www.undergraduate.study.cam.ac.uk/international-students/eu-international-qualifications. If anything stated isn’t clear to you then don’t be afraid to send them an email. They’re usually quick in responding and don’t mind answering your queries at all

There are quota restrictions on overseas (i.e. non-EU) students for oxbridge medicine, making it exceedingly competitive as well as much more expensive on a different rate scale. You are aware that it is an undergraduate course, I assume. Not only do you need top grades, but you need to demonstrate your interest by the development of some “bedside manner” with patients. Check this out if you haven’t already: http://www.undergraduate.study.cam.ac.uk/

Building on alcibiade’s comment: by UK rules, Cambridge can take a maximum of 22 international students per class of 268- and even though the best in the world apply, most years they don’t even take that many. By all means apply- not forgetting to prepare and register for the BMAT- but know that it is a very very long shot.
