Would taking a practice test on the computer be less beneficial than taking a proper paper test?

I would much prefer taking a test on paper since it simulates real test conditions better and it's less of an eyesore.

Agreed with Duper. Anything that you can do to make practice conditions as similar to the real test, you should. But if you're talking about being on vacation or visiting relatives for a few days, don't bother to lug books with you. In this case, computer practice tests can be a good idea.

or so you can focus more when you do it on paper..too much internet distraction..when you do it online......

Take paper practice. And print every computer-based test you have. After all, you're gonna take it on paper so online practice should be avoided whenever possible.
