Studying while fasting?

I'm still running cross country and fasting Ramadan. The difficulty for me is more the thirst than the hunger, especially on workouts like today; It does help that I'm used to not eating lunch.
What I do (not completely intentionally) is I sometimes sleep early and manage to wake up around 1 or 2 AM. Then I got however long to eat and do homework or whatever till I have to get ready for school. Sometimes, like today and yesterday, I just do hw (physics!) to get it over with and wait out the last hour and a half or so before sunset.
One of my teammates asked me the other day how I go all day without food. Eh, I guess I'm used to it. My coach is even fasting tomorrow as a challenge (not mine).

I lived most of my life in Farmington Hills, MI. :)

My mom's from Farmington Hills... Aspen, where do you live now?

Ann Arbor rocks =D

Mmm rabbit's good... I had some when I was like 12 years old. But you know what's better is this amazing caramel apple that's like huge and on top of the caramel it's covered in chocolate... It's delicious...

(I love how during Ramadan, all anyone seems to do is describe various foods and fantasize about iftar)

^What else do you expect people to do? People are fasting all day and drool like babies when they see someone eating infront of them or on TV and can only fantasize about eating the same stuff. It's natural to yearn for something when you can't have it.
and, carbs aren't such a bad thing. Of course, I personally need to do something about my portion sizes.
PS: meals in different places tend to differ alot.

has ramadan started yet? I haven't heard anyone talk/complain about it yet...Usually, there's this girl Maryam, who I swear has never fasted a day in her life, who fasts until lunch everyday then does this huge attention-seeking act of almost fainting and bums food off of people....

Yea, started a while ago..... don't exactly remember when, 1 1/2 weeks(?) maybe.

don't remember? r u muslim?

Yep, but I haven't fasted yet this year, and nobody in my family is exactly religious so.......

september 23 it started

umm im in good old tx :] drastic, i know. hahahaha Must love it.

I love to eat. I don't know how y'all can skip lunch! In Ramadan, I have no problem giving up food cuz of the purpose....

huh? It started on the 24th here. They really need more acurate ways to know the exact date. This whole looking at the moon thing always mixes everything up.

It's even better when one masjid declares eid, while the next city over is still fasting. We started on... saturday, so I think that was the 23rd...

That's never happened here before. Everyone just goes with the flow and copies everyone else.

Well, officially it was Sat, Sept 23 (US). Some sects however believe one MUST see the moon...so they held off.

Y'all might have had a diff day in Egypt because...well it's a different country! haha

lol. nah..different countries don't start at different times. It's supposedly fixed. But for the past few years Egypt has been usuing it's own method of "looking at the moon" rather than just going with Saudi Arabia like in the past. So they always disagree on the date. (It's been a 29 day month for the past 5 or 6 years lol)

Interesting.....

what is :p lol ?

Egypt's way of doing things

hmm...do y'all workout while fasting? Or do you wait till after?

Egypt is always doing the opposite of the rest of the world for some reason.

uh....it depends on the person. I like to do it before to waste time. But that's me...

I give up working out in Ramadan (actually, I've given up working out all together, school sucks up any extra time I ever had, and I get enough of a workout running from class to class anyway). I figure the not eating thing is enough to keep me from any drastic weight gains... although, a lot of people actually gain weight in Ramadan, since at iftar, they actually manage to eat more than they would have had they been eating throughout the day. That was a really confusing sentence, but hopefully you get my point.

people gain weight because as soon as the day's over, they shove huge amounts of food down their throats and then are too lazy to do anytying to burn it. So they gain wieght.
