Stuff 2 Bring

I was just wondering can you bring your own tv if you have a single? and what about the meal plans? I already have my plans for housing done and I just also want to know what are the perks of being a CU student, like name the artists of the concerts, and broadway plays, etc. All right later guys, One love.

Yes. You can also bring a TV if you have a double. You have to pay for cable ($25/month when I was there). I recommend having a TV in your room. It beats fighting with other people to watch a particular show that you want to watch. But, don't just be antisocial and sit in your room and watch TV alone 24/7.

Everyone says most points, least meals. The dining hall sucks. Nobody wishes they had more meals.

its 27.95 a month now...in my opinion its a waste if you are living in any of the freshman dorms....u can just go watch it for free in the lounge

If you have a tv, I would bring it; I watch Survivor (deride if you must) which comes on at 8 on thursdays, but at 8 on thursdays you can't get anywhere near a lounge tv because of the OC. It's just nice if no one wants to watch what you do.

I went on the tour before applying, and the guide said to get the most points and the fewest meals. Somehow, I talked myself out of it. I picked the meal plan with eleven meals per week, and I didn't think that was going to be nearly enough. The dining hall meals are sub-par to say the least (except breakfasts which are good). One other thing to consider is that the dining hall is only open for two meals a day: brunch and dinner. I based my meal plan decision on 3 meals per day only to find that they didn't even offer that many. I ate at the dining hall every meal for the last three months and I still lost about 60 meals first semester. Do yourself a favor and believe the students who tell you to get the most points and the fewest meals.

so is the tv just for doubles? can you have one in a single???

Yes, you can have a TV in any dorm room.

That's Cool I have heard rumors of students pulling all night halo parties...Is this true? ive never played this game in my life but i know about it. Do you like need that for a quick connection? Also tell the truth man... who has the best dorms? And Also are there any dorms with just a single bathroom? Im not a germaphobe, but i do take long showers (yes im spoiled) and who is the cleanest?

you cant get cable in indivdual rooms of the LLC

You just have to run a cable from the lounge to your room. People do this all the time.

You have to get very lucky as a senior to get a personal bathroom, dude. Get used to sharing.

couldnt find this anywhere in the dorms posts but there ARE ethernet ports in all the dorm rooms right?

Yep, every dorm room has high-speed ethernet.

They're all over campus for free.

so really guys how is is the food? if its all you can eat....why do people always says its crappy and what is the best dorm?

The food is horrible. If mud was all you can eat, would you stuffing yourself silly every night?

Two random questions about computers: 1) is the campus wireless at all? 2) is the campus linux friendly?

1) The entire outdoor campus is wireless. Some of the academic buildings are wireless. The dorms aren't wireless.

2) What do you mean by "linux friendly"? You're welcome to use linux or some other obscure OS that you feel like using.

What are the hall bathrooms like?

I've heard at some schools there are individual cubicles, while at others there's little more than a curtain separating you from the person next door.

I know there's nothing I can DO about it, I'm just wondering what I should be ready for.

if the food is bad, should i do the meal plan? really if i'm going out to eat all the time, i would rather use the meal plan money to out and eat.

There is now wireless in almost all the big lecture halls and throughout alot of classrooms. There's wireless in the dorms in some of the building lounges.

Yes, the food is bad yet edible.

The bathrooms are just like public bathrooms except they have showers which have curtains. That's the case for most hallway style dorms. However dorms with suites (including Carmen) have a bathroom that's more like ur bathroom at home but with an extra sink.

Just to be clear, the individual rooms don't have wireless.

The food is bad, but you can't get out of the meal plan. Money-making scheme. If you want to eat out, you still have to buy the meal plan.
