Go something in the mail today from Yale...it didn't really say much except take a tour or something of Yale in the summer...it was short (postcard), but I noticed it was from the Department of like Multicultural Recruitment.

Does everyone get one, or is it something worth getting?

I got this email (for my son, not a minority)

Dear Student,

Did you know that Yale offers on-campus interviews to rising seniors? Though not a required part of the application, we find that a personal interview gives us a chance to get to know our applicants better. On-campus interviews are conducted
by current Yale seniors, and applicants tell us that they find their interviews to be both informative and enjoyable! Appointments are available in June, July and August, so if you are planning a trip to New Haven this summer we suggest you visit our website to schedule an on-campus interview. http://www.yale.edu/admit/visit/interviews/index.html#campus.

I sent them sort of a nasty reply asking them if they don't get enough applications already and isn't their acceptance rate low enough without soliciting applications from people that have no chance of gaining admittance.

They replied:
Thank you very much for your interest in Yale University. Due to the high number of requests for information we receive over e-mail at this time of year, we are unable respond to each request individually.
However,...... blah blah blah

Yeah, disregard anything they send you. I had no chance at Yale and they sent me a huge viewbook with stuff and blah blah. It's a shame because it really gets some people's hopes up.
