Alright, so I'm a Canadian citizen, always have been. I'm applying to American schools for drama because I ultimately want to get out of Canada and I think there are more opportunities in the States. However, unless I get substantial financial aid from American universities, I'm staying in Canada. Here's where it gets interesting.

I know that that there are plenty of conservatories and schools in the UK that are quite affordable for EU students, but I had always dismissed it as financially impossible for me as Canadian. However, I recently had someone point out that it wouldn't be hard for me to get a Greek/Canadian dual citizenship, since I have lots of Greek relatives (there's more of a story, but just believe me, it's possible). This would make UK schools quite a viable option, not to mention VERY appealing, since I'm kind of dying to get out of Canada.

I searched this forum but didn't find much in detail. Essentially, I'm wondering what the best schools are in the UK, especially in and around London? I've looked into RADA but they only accept students 18+ and I skipped a grade so I'll only be 17. I also researched the Central School of Speech and Drama, which seemed appealing. Does anyone have any experience/suggestions for me? What would you do if you were in my situation?

Im from CA but I was always interested in studying drama at a school in the UK. From what I hear, they have some amazing programs out there. We do too of course! If its possible for you to get dual citizenship, I say go for it. It will probably be much more affordable for you to study out there then in the states as an out of state or international student. Especially with the tuition and fee increases that are happening now. I would look into these schools;

East 15 Acting School
Bristol Old Vic
Central Saint Martins
Guildhall School of Music and Drama
Central School Of Speech and Drama (University Of London)
Birmingham School of Acting
Drama Centre London-Central Saint Martins (CSM)
London Academy of Music & Dramatic Arts (LAMDA)

There are many others but these are the schools that I always hear about. Good Luck!

There are links to each of the schools. I can tell you that Liverpool and the Royal Scottish Academy often attend the Unified auditions in Chicago and New York if that’s something that is convenient for you. You must check with them directly however about their North American audition sites and dates.
