I just took "Honors Algebra 2 BC" and so next year am enrolled in Precal BC, which means senior year I am on track for AP Calculus BC... right? But what about AB? Do you have to take the AB exam first? Because the AP sign up sheet or whatever says you can't take AB and BC in the same year, which just leaves me extremely confused about AP Calc. Thanks :D

I heard AB is simply a sub score of the BC when taking the test.

At your school you just choose AB or BC. BC covers all of AB plus a little more and at a faster pace, so you don’t need to do AB before BC.

Not exactly.

There are 2 AP Calculus exams: Calculus AB and Calculus BC.

Calculus AB is scored just like any other test, with a 5, 4, 3, 2, or 1 given. Calculus BC covers all topics in AB along with a few others. The Calculus BC test gives 2 scores: a total score and an AB subscore. Both are out of 5. The total score is your score on the entire exam, while the AB subscore is a score that comes from only the AB-topic questions on the BC exam.

You can pick whichever exam you want to take. I took BC this year without ever taking the AB exam.

Oh, okay. So I’ll end up just taking BC then. Thanks :D
