does anyone else think it's stupid that they in the admissions process they give u extra points if your from a low income family? What does that have to do with the individual and their potential?!!! It just seems like there was no point in working hard and going to private school. We all should've just hoped to be born into lower income families.

well, if lowincome, then there's a great probability that you havent taken sat prep courses...so your sat score is lower by about 100pts or so...if your rich your probably gonna take sat courses and raise your score by about 100pts. so its the same..

Its a state school, so they are obligated to give everyone a chance. Students from competetive private schools do better on the standardized tests, so they compensate by giving points to those who probably haven't had the opportunity to do as well.

Man, I HATE being in-between. I'm ALMOST low-income, but not, but I'm still poor enough and don't receive any of these low-income benefits GRRRR

well mate, if you're academically solid, the 100 point boost won't mean too much.

:)

so wait, SAT prep courses count for "Educational Preparation Programs"?

I've seen it on a site that has the points breakdown, but really?

no, stuff like eaop/ upward bound / avid and stuff
in grades 9-12

oook, thanks.
