Stupid Essay Question

Are there topics specific to each college I have to write about?
I am applying to about 5 schools and I looked all over their sites and I did not see anything relating to essays except "additional essay required with common app" or something like that.

So the additional essays required by colleges can be on anything?
And what about the Common Application, is there a specific topic for that essay?

I am a rising senior and I want to start my essays right now!

CMU, Cornell U, George Washington University, New York University

the schools using the common app will have a supplement specific to the school. for instance, UVA has two very short (250 words) prompts on their supplement. just go to commonapp website and you’ll find everything u need there, including the supplements.

Except that not all schools have their supplement out and available yet.

From the apps last year:
NYU’s supplement is a ton of little short answer questions. Like if you had to sing for a talent show which song would you sign and why

I don’t remember GW’s taking that long.

By CMU do you mean claremont of carnegie mellon, claremont’s were short answers too like describe yourself as a city and a piece of clothing and a super hero. I’m not sure about carnegie.

They all come out eventually. For now just work on a very good “tell us something about you/ choose your own topic kind of essay.” You will use it the most.
