stupid question: attend waitlisted classes?

I'm assuming there wont be enough seats and standing for an hour bites. The breakdown: foreign lang class, 25 people, #3 on the waitlist.

Thanks guys for BEARing with me on this stupid question.

if you are #3, I would say that there is actually still a chance you can move up or even get into the class before it starts. I was 11th on a waitlist for a class of 40 and I was just added over the past weekend.

Go to the class for the beginning, see if you have a chance (there a bound to be others with you, most likely behind you in line), and then consider your options.

~oh, and is it a manual or automatic waitlist?

automatic.

I'm just gonna keep griping about standing up!

sorry to have edited my post.

ya never know, they might have extra chairs...but I won't ruin your fun ;)

Being #3 is almost a guarantee that you'll make it into the class. You should definitely go.

Even if you don't make it in through the automatic system before the first class, the fact that you show up, gives you a huge advantage.

The professor can accomodate however many students he/she wants (don't mind the published "class size")- and usually find a way to get folks into the class regardless of position on the waitlist. The key is to show up and show some interest. The ones that don't show up (even ones with a guaranteed spot) are the ones that will get dropped. :)

welll.. turns out this waitlist business won't be so easy for me. I didn't realize that yesterday was the last day of phase 2. So the problem is I realized I wanted to sign myself up for a different section (also a #3 waitlist position) buttt... now, assuming that I do it first thing during the beginning of adjustment period (aug 22) then I'll be #4, maybe.

ALSO... there's another I wanted to take instead of Comp Lit R1A but I'd be #6 on the waitlist, class size of 17. Should I still go for it when adjustment day comes?
