Stupid question, but...

What if I got in last year but decided to go to another school, then this year realized perhaps I should have sent to Stanford, and then sent them an e-mail explaining the situation....do you think there is any chance in the world that I could go to Stanford?

You’ll probably have to get in the ‘transfer line.’

Yale not working out for you?

through the normal route that transfer applicants take…they won’t just “re-admit” you.
and the rate of transfer admissions is 1.4%, so…

virtuoso,

I’m curious . . . where did you decide to go instead of Stanford? Why the regret?

BTW, kyledavid, shouldn’t you still be in your HIGH SCHOOL class in Cali right now? hehe

^^ haha, spring break FTW.

lextalionis: I’m a freshman at Yale. The regret…a few reasons I’ll post later.

So I guess this situation is one that won’t work out for me then? :(

Schools allow you to defer acceptance for a year, but they must approve what you are doing before hand. You also cannot defer acceptance to matriculate to any other school, be it another college or, if you applied as a junior, senior year of high school. I cannot see any reason why you would not have to apply as a transfer, allthough if you got in once, you probably have a slightly better chance to get in the second time around (unless Stanford holds a grudge…)

From what I’ve heard, those at CCs and such are the ones who get in as transfers; those at top schools already tend not to.
