stupid question -umich public or private

<p>Yeah, thank you. I still have to hope Dartmouth improves my financial aid, even though it's better than Michigan's, it's still not enough by a long shot.</p>

<p>You're primary residence (wherever your primary mailing address) has to be in the state for at least one year and you have to pay that state's income tax to be considered a resident.</p>

<p>kman, it's even more strict than that. You have to demonstrate that you are in Michigan for a purpose other than to attend school there. So a graduate student who is admitted and then moves to Michigan, buys a house, whose spouse gets a job working somewhere in Ann Arbor....sorry, STILL considered nonresident. The rationale being, you only moved here to attend school here,and that's what has you living here. Not the house, not the spouse's job.</p>
