Stupid stuff my parents packed for me

My daughter brought 4 "work out" t shirts (she works out a couple of times per week, thought she might do IM soccer) and had received about 6 more the first four days she was on campus. When you are in college, t shirts magically appear.

I know there is a large CVS drug store very close to my daughter's dorm, so if she forgot anything or runs out of anything, it is about a block away. That's nice. When I was in college, the college bookstore was the only really convenient place to pick things up, and everything there was overpriced.

I did make sure she had a thermometer, a small bottle advil, and about 8 nyquil, though. The time when you NEED a thermometer, advil, or nyquil is not the time you want to go shopping for a thermometer, advil or nyquil. And if she should ever call late at night, I know I can say "have you taken your temperature" or "have you taken advil?" or "take nyquil and you will feel better in the morning."

She has said several times she wished she had a roll of paper towel, but if she really wanted one, she would have bought a roll form CVS by now.

The second roll of paper towels goes back with them sometime during the school year, be sure to watch out for disappearing items whenever they leave. I once couldn't find that nice pocket sized flashlight I used when walking the dog at night (helpful to locate...)- ended up buying a new one as son took it from the dog's stuff container. If he had only told me at the time. And don't bother with college logo T-shirts, they easily acquire them.

I think I may buy new stuff (flashlights, etc.) AFTER S leaves -- he can have the old stuff. At the rate things get borrowed/misplaced at school, it doesn't make sense to send him off with everything new. I think the only "new" clothes he's getting are socks and boxers (until we do the winter coat/boots later this fall). Besides, there's still that pesky tuition bill...

S has decided that these items are useless: conditioner (recently cut his hair short and no longer uses although he used it religiously when his hair was long), any laundry product other than detergent (got liquid for use with cold or hot water and the kind with the screw on lid 'cos I figure he'll lose the little measuring cup that just pops on top), swiffer, swim trunks, egg crate mattress pad...

Wants any kind of tape (duct, masking, electrical, scotch...), sewing kit?, hand sanitizer (yeah!--won't dust but will be germ free), small hand saw?, personal fan, umbrella...
