What is the reputation of this program and how well do the students typically fare in terms of getting accepted to med school?

I can't tell you much there, but I do know someone at Syracuse who spent a year pre-med and then decided to major in culinary arts, instead.

haha. well that is certainly encouraging!!!

anyone else perhaps know a little bit more?

I'm a pre-med student here at SU (Pre-Dentistry actually but we pretty much go through the same curriculum as Pre-Medicine students).

I couldn't tell you much about the "reputation" that you're looking for but in terms of opportunities and resources, I love everything that SU has to offer.
You will find plenty of volunteer opportunities in the local VA Hospital/Crouse Hospital which are minutes from the campus by foot. In terms of internship, I currently do an internship at a dental office and receive a course credit along with it. In terms of research, there are various research opportunities in various different departments (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Psychology, etc). There are plenty of extra-curricular programs devoted to the health fields and there are advisors specifically for pre-med students.

wow thank you. that is actually very helpful. i live in a suburb outside of syracuse and have just always admired SU it would be like a dream to go there haha. and it seems like their pre-med kids are pretty well taken care of. i went to info sessions and al that but every school always builds up all their programs so to me its sort of hard to judge based off of that but what you said actually supports everything i heard!
