SU Questions

I'm still trying to figure out where I'll be mailing a deposit to come May 1st! I live just outside Syracuse and SU has always been a top choice... I'm hoping I can get a few questions answered.

How "hard" are typical classes at the college of arts and sciences? For example, if I study and put in a fair amount of time (fair meaning not overkill but not nothing) is it possible to attain a 4.0 or something in that ballpark?

How large are classes typically?

SU does have the connotation of having many "rich" kids there. How true is this? Will I feel out of place if I'm not rich or is it just as easy for a middle class kiddo like myself to fit in?

stephrad: from my daughter’s freshman experience:

1) classes in arts and sciences are not that difficult: A- more the norm than A though…harder classes in Maxwell, Whitman, etc…

2) any large class has many smaller sections during one part of the week; most of the discussions count more than the lectures (and sometimes part of exams are given in lecture and part in discussions)

3)my daughter says that there are all different kinds of kids there; rich, poor, upper middle, middle…you find your own and who you are comfortable with…

PM me if you have any other q’s…
