a kid in our school who got a little less than 1800 got into Carnegir Mellon University.
International, asian, male.
think he got in mellon school of sciences.

I got into NYU with a 12K a year scholarship with a 1990, and I'm not a URM.

but seriously... most schools wont just base an acceptance on SAT scores. There is so much other stuff on the applications that are just as important, if not more important than those standardized test scores. so don't lose hope!

Well I took the old SAT but I got into Rice with an 1100. And one of my sisters got into Cornell with an old SAT score of like 1000.

Got into Bowdoin with 1930 SAT, 3.75 GPA, rank is about 72 out ~450 students ...Though, I'm Hispanic and a 1st generation college student

I know a freshman at Wesleyan who got in with a 29 ACT (that's less than 2000 converted), not so great public school, kind of a weak writer so essays more interesting than technically good, no leadership, no demonstrated interest in the school other than an app --- but lots of actvities & sports, many hours of work, first generation American/first generation college, lower income (worked it into essay nicely). I think his enthusiasm for working hard & being willing to do what it takes to make a better life came through on his application!

friend got into YALE Early Action, with 1860 SATs, no athlete, no legacy. She's international though.

Do you think there's a different standard for intl applicants? Maybe depending on the area of the world?

My daughter had 1930 SAT; 28 ACT. Attends Barnard. Accepted into (and turned town) Chicago, NYU (Gallatin), & Berkeley. Each case is different.

@bernardolw Really?I can't believe it.1860 SAT and YALE?? Does she have any fin aid?

how top-teir if UMiami, cuz i got in there w/ a 1910(M660, R650, W600) i also got the deans scholarship. the SAT is a small aspect of the admissions process.

nop she didnt get any fin aid

2090 - MIT RD, Columbia SEAS
GPA - somewhere 3.8-4.0
African American
not so strong ECs
essay- wrote about mission trip to New Orleans

800M, 610V, 670W (2080) - Harvey Mudd, UC Berkeley, UCLA +
GPA - 4.0 UW, 5.xx W
White as rice
ECs - nothing really kicked in until after my acceptances, but i did coach soccer
essay - wrote about 'speedcubing' and stuff

I'm amazed by how many people with SAT's over 2050 are still posting, people that got, in other words, excellent scores. No offense Seiken, but should we be surprised that somebody with an 800 math portion and a straight 4.0 got into good schools?

Anyone here got admitted with some fin aid and sun-2000 sat score?I mean that fin aid at least a half.If mine is sub-2000,is there any for me to get an fin aid of half tuition?

Where you applying?

@fhimas88888888 lafayett;gettysburg... something like that,no matter the rank, just the money

Iunno, I never really considered 2080 all that good and it annoyed me throughout the application process, especially considering where i was applying. I thought all of these scores were to make the OP feel better by showing below threshold people getting into tier 1 schools. in other words, lower than avg SATs are not the end. And 'low' is relative.

anyways, sorry if it bothered you. i guess i could have misunderstood the purpose of this thread

The schools I applied to give need based fin aid, and I need a lot. Merit based from the school might be harder at tier one schools, because the standards will be high. But the good thing is many tier 1 schools only give need based aid.

I got a 26 on the ACT, and I am waiting to hear from Notre Dame, BC, Tufts, Amherst, Bowdoin, and Wesleyan. I got into RPI Business, Providence, Fairfield Business, and Uconn Business. Wish me luck, I will need it. I have a lot of great EC's, good grades, decent ranking, great recs, and essays. Hopefully those shine through. Because a 26 ACT is probably not even in the 25% range for any of these schools lol.

Ohhhhhhh man.

After reading all these posts, I'd like to think that I'll have a decent shot at Vassar. More power to the dude with an 1860 SAT in Yale.
