Sub 2000 SAT, 33 ACT; Retake SAT?

My son just got his SAT scores back and received 1970 (630 CR, 700M, 640 W). His ACT is 33 composite. Wondering if he should try and boost his SAT closer to ACT percentile (99%) or just forget about the SAT?

LOL… same here. 1960 (690 CR, 620 M, 650 W) 33 ACT. Took the PSAT a few months ago and scored a 177, so there is a 200 point increase, with no studying or prep courses, etc. Wondering if I should get some books, practice tests, vocab words, etc, and then re-take it.

33 ACT is roughly equivalent to 2180 SAT.
If the OP’s son does any prep at all, it should be for the ACT.
I wouldn’t even bother trying to increase the SAT score. Focus on the ACT.

do not retake the SAT… you only need one score and a 33 is much better than a 1970

IMO, no need to retake SAT. Only submit his ACT, 33 is a competetive score for any school.

Thank you all for your replies. You helped confirm what I was pretty sure was the route to go. My DS will stick with sending ACT scores only.
