Quick question: I am receiving a subsidized stafford loan and perkins loan and understand that the government pays for the interest on such loans while I am in school. Does the government continue to pay for the interest if I intend to go to law school directly after undergraduate and successfully defer payment? I noticed that it says these loans are subsidized during deferment but it talks about teachers and does not mention graduate students.

Loans are typically eligible for in-school deferment status when a student is enrolled more than halftime at a qualified institution or when enrolled in a quaified program. This includes those working on graduate degrees.

thanks good to hear
