I currently have a 3.2 GPA and have completed the bulk of my most difficult classes as a mechanical engineering transfer
Since the most difficult classes are done, I’m fairly confident by the time Winter quarter rolls around I can bring my GPA to above 3.4 which qualifies for TAG at UCI.
I won’t be able to TAG for fall but with an appeal, will I have a good chance at getting in after winter quarter when appeals roll around? Would TAG still work at that point?
You can still apply as a regular transfer if you do not meet the TAG requirement for UCI. What would you be appealing, the chance to be considered for TAG after the application period? As far as I am aware, you apply in September 2017 for TAG and if you do not qualify, you take your chances as a regular transfer or you would need to reapply the following year. If you do not qualify in the first place what grounds would you have for an appeal later?
@Gumbymom
I see. So either way I can’t tag, and I just have to take my chances as a regular transfer applicant.
I feel like I don’t hear many stories about appeals getting accepted. I hope getting my GPA up to TAG range will get me in.
Why not TAG to another UC that has a lower threshold and just apply as a regular applicant to UCI? At least you would have one UC as a guarantee.
