Hello,

I know that I won't get unit credit past 70 units. If I transferred to a UC with 70 units from a CC, can I go back and take another class at a CC for a major requirement? For example, take econ at a CC next summer and transfer it to a UC to cover a major requirement?

Thanks!

I believe you can, it depends on some UC’s and the major because some will allow it while other’s won’t. You can only do that to satisfy your lower major pre-req’s; all your upper-division major can only be taken at the UC.

Okay, cool! Thanks. Would someone be able to confirm if this works for Berkeley? The econ would be applied for a major pre-req (I’m declaring a second major.)

What major? You may want to ask the major department directly.

Note that Berkeley Economics 1 covers both micro and macro economics. At many CCs, these are split into two separate courses, so you may have to take both courses to get the equivalent of Berkeley Economics 1.

Thanks for the tip. I’ve taken macroeconomics at a CC already, which is why I’m debating over whether to take microeconomics at a CC next summer to complete the pre-req, or just take Econ 1 at Berkeley.

It would be Development Studies.
