Subject Test Question -- Please help!

My daughter is applying a number of schools where subject tests are optional. She took Chemistry and Math II, and got a 630 and a 680, which I know is on the low side. She is applying to major in a science (Chemistry) but NOT engineering. She has straight As in math and science and got 2100 on the SAT (over 700 on math) and did well on the APs. She’s done a couple competitive-entry science/math summer programs (I put all this just to show she has a demonstrated interest in science). I really don’t know if these subject tests would help or hurt her for competitive schools like UCLA and USC, where she is not required to submit them. Please help! Should she submit or not? Thanks!

I would not submit those scores. They aren’t bad, but if you look at the percentile ranking, you will see that a 680 is usually in the bottom half for math II, because so many talented math students take that particular exam and get perfect or near perfect scores. Ditto for the chemistry score of 630, which is below the 40th percentile. Since the subject tests are optional for the schools she is interested in, I would let her other achievements speak for her.

Thank you @massmomm ! That’s what I’m leaning towards. Does anyone else have any input???

My daughter has similar subject test scores and is (hopefully) applying to USC. She has a 33 ACT. She won’t be submitting the subject test scores.
