subject test question

It's the latter of the two that applies.

Dude, just take both Math subject tests because Harvard clearly allows it. If they were somehow against this practice, then the Harvard Undergraduate Admissions Committee would have clearly specified this on their website and on the Commonapp supplement. YOU SHOULD TAKE THE COMBINATION OF 3 SAT II SUBJECT TESTS THAT BEST REPRESENT YOUR ACADEMIC STRENGTHS AND ABILITY. If two of them are Math, then so be it.

People on this website need to stop overanalyzing what admissions officers might subconsciously do/think and overstressing others and themselves out.

hmmm...

would anybody here know schools that require 3 subject test but wouldn't allow 2 of the same math score?

Our S' counselor told our S that the schools would disregard his Math1 SATII & only look at his Math2 for ALL the schools he was considering (tho Harvard wasn't on his list). Particularly since my S was interested in engineering, the counselor said that his schools only were interested in the Math2 anyway. As I posted above, that's why my S had to take Math2 fall of senior year (he had taken Math1 because he hadn't spoken with the college counselor, who advised him he really needed to take Math2).
The counselor has had good results in getting kids from the HS into most of the colleges they wanted to go, so I trust his advice.

well of course i would love to take math IIC only, but its just that I honestly suck at most of the subject test except for the math.

fastfingers, I'm in the same situation as you-- I know I can get 700 on both Math tests. I'm just not sure if higher scores are better than taking diverse subject tests.
Right now, I'm leaning towards taking both maths (and a science)...

HImom, your S's case is a little bit different than this case, at least I think, because your S explicitly applied for an engineering program/major, so different standards in terms of math/science sat2 apply. they would much rather care about the 2c than the 1c, and would want to see sciences. this case isn't that severe, because he doesn't outright want to apply for engineering, so I think he can still get away with it.

hmm just to give more info into my case, I'm going premed
