Subject Test Scheduling

I intend on taking three SAT Subject Tests, as that is the maximum required by any college. The ones I will be taking are: Biology E/M, US History, and Math II. The two times I feel are most convenient (for various reasons) would be May and June. Because I feel a little insecure about this.. I feel like I should take all three in both May and June... however it would eat into my AP review time (for AP Biology and AP US history) if I took them in May, and since I am taking 4 honors classes and 2 AP's this year, I will be hard pressed for time. Anyone with past experience, who had a similar type of dilemma, please give me some advice.

So, would it be worth it to take the same Subject Tests twice, or is just once enough (aiming for triple 800’s).

Sign up in June so as not to be overworked with APs AND SAT IIs.

I would take USH in May, since it’s very similar (except being easier) than APUSH. I would take the other 2 in June, simply because I don’t think taking 3 the same day is the best idea. If you score badly on any of them, you can always re-take in the fall.

^^^ yes, USH in May, Bio in June, Math II earlier than May- January
or later in Fall depending on your Math level of proficiency.

^Well, I think my math skills are fine, but the problem is that I am taking the normal SAT in December and March… so I will be a bit pre occupied with that. Probably just take Math II in the fall. Thanks for the advice guys.

What math class are you taking this year, because if it’s pre-calc or trig, you probably want to wait until june to take the math ii

Honors Precalc

Yeah, I would wait to take the Math II until June. I took honors pre-calc as well, and a lot of the concepts you learn in it are in the Math II. You won’t be ready this fall unless you’ve already taught yourself trig.

Well, my H Algebra II class covered part of trig… is there more to it than right/oblique triangles (law of sines, law of cosines, etc)… also learned about periodic functions as well.

Yes, there is a LOT more to it (than what you mentioned), not to be condescending or anything. But if you are fairly sure you’re up for it, it can’t hurt to take a practice test to see where you fall.

Whats the general raw score range to get an 800?

43/50, but realize that’s only actually 5 incorrect.

definitely june. definitely.

Ok… so I know I will be doing Bio and Math II in June. For US in May… my only concern is that I will be prepping too much for the SATII rather than the AP exam… but as long as I read the Amsco book a few times over I should be fine for both then (may do some practice tests for SATII in the Kaplan review book I bought)? Also, I know my APUSH teacher is really good, so he’ll definitely have me prepared for the DBQ, etc etc.

I would almost entirely study for the AP, just taking one practice test for the SAT 2.

take bio and apush in may. apbio>satIIbio so you dont have to review AT ALL for bio and ushistory. AMSCO and CLIFF will take you to both 5 & 800 for AP and SATsubject.
