Subject Tests

On Cornell's requirements it states that subject tests are recommended for College of Agriculture and Life Sciences but not required. Would it be to my advantage to submit my 730 USH score and my 650 Math II scores? I am hesitant to send my Math score because I took it while sick and scored very poorly.

You must send ALL scores to Cornell.

“Please note that Cornell requires students to submit all scores from tests taken and does not participate in the College Board’s Score Choice.”

[Cornell University Undergraduate Admissions Office - HOW TO APPLY](http://admissions.cornell.edu/apply/firstyear/instructions.cfm)

All scores refers only to SATs, not subject tests.

I really don’t think it will matter one way or another, Subject tests, when required, seem to be weighed little if at all. My D was admitted CHE with a 590 in Math II & a 640 in US History.

You dont have score choice for cornell… so you have to send them all anyway…
… even i had to send my 650 in math :/

My daughter was admitted with an SAT 2 of 640 in Latin…I really think Cornell does an amazing job at looking at the TOTAL package. I would send everything - the “not participating in score choice” is just that - they don’t specify SAT 1 and SAT 2 - they say they don’t participate…enough said. Cornell is a stickler about following instructions…do just that and you should be fine.

Score choice doesn’t apply to the subject tests. I called the admissions office when I applied (I was accepted ED) and they said that you don’t have to submit all of your subject tests if you don’t want to. Score Choice, which Cornell doesn’t have, only applies to the reasoning test.
You might want to consider sending the score in anyway - I was accepted with a 640 on the math section of the reasoning test, and they do like you to have two subject tests. It’s hard to say whether it will help you or hurt you more - I guess you’ll just have to make that decision.

CALS recommends a science and mathematics. Do you have a science test to submit?

Unfortunately, I do not have a science test to submit. I was hoping to take that in January. I was only able to score a 1960 on the SAT reasoning, after two tries, but I received a 32 on the ACT. I was actually planning on just submitting my ACT score so they wouldn’t see my low SAT score. Would that still be violating Cornell’s policy of sending all scores?

I just called the Cornell Office of Admissions and they said we have to send in all scores. I’m really confused. I thought we only sent in all of SAT I scores?

Can someone please clarify? Thanks.

OH I meant the office of admissions told me I had to send in ALL scores of the subject tests.

You don’t need to send in all subject test scores…

@college195811 If you send ACT scores, then you don’t need to send SAT I scores.

Should I go ahead and submit the low subject test scores or just submit only the ACT?

I would at least send in the first one, I’m pretty sure you don’t have to send all your SAT II test scores in, but I could be wrong. However, I don’t think the Math will hurt your chances, it just might not boost them either.

Would any of you mind taking a look at my chances for a place like Cornell?

Thanks!

Wait, so let’s clear this once and for all:
someone called Cornell and was told that you must send ALL SAT I and II scores but some people are saying that’s wrong.

I thought all scores = all reasoning & subject test scores.

Anyway, it doesn’t matter since I already sent in ALL my scores to Cornell (:

i called them yesterday and they require ALL SCORES. even sat 2’s…

awesome. okay, so I’ve done the right thing by sending ALL my scores. That’s what I thought in the first place! If a school requires “all scores”, they mean ALL scores, including subject tests. Thanks for calling them.

I love how nice the admissions team is  when I e-mail them with questions, they’re so quick to respond and they’re always friendly & helpful! A lot of other schools won’t respond for a long time, but Cornell’s not like that.

Definitely. As long as the offices are open, the folks will probably respond.
